On their second trip in the past two years, Henry Kolbusz Sr., from Weston, Connecticut recently fished 7 days out of Playa Carrillo with sons Tom and Henry Jr. They scored 70 Sailfish releases, 5 Blue Marlin and 26 Dorado. Although most of the Dorado were released they still sampled every kind of Dorado dish the local chefs knew how to prepare. “We had a hell of a good time," said Henry.

  The Gamefisher2 has captured 1st place in the 5 consecutive years that they entered Costa Rica’s largest annual fly fishing billfish tournament, previously under the name, Billy Pate Saltwater fly Tournament, now known as the Harry Gray Fly Tournament. The Gamefisher II has also been top boat 5 of the 7 years that they fished the Presidential Challenge Costa Rica Tournament. (PCCR)
  Results of the Harry Gray Memorial Fly Fishing Tournament at Quepos Jan. 26-29 were little short of phenomenal, with 33 anglers catching and releasing a total of 333 sailfish and one striped marlin, and doing it all on a fly rod. This was the most productive competition in the four-year history of the tournament, beating last year's total count of 327 fish released.
  Winning team of Jeff McFadden and Gallagher, fishing on the Gamefisher II with skipper Richard Chellemi, finished in first place for the second year in a row with 39 releases. They fished with Richard last year as well. Third place behind Joe Dowdell were Nick Smith and Jim Gill, also with 28 releases between them, but Joe had his 28 sails in and out of the water first. They were aboard the Old Reliable.
This was the Fourth Annual Harry Gray Memorial Tournament, which has donated more than $40,000 over the years to the Liver Transplant Center for Children here in Costa Rica.
  Tournament chairman Marcia Bennett said fishermen in the competition last year funded nine liver transplants for Costa Rica children, and all survived. This year's donation of $15,000 to the center will assure a longer and happier life for children here.

November 1, 2, 3 & 4, 2016: Bob Newell, Larry Spainhour, Brent Elliott and Scott Hamilton from North Carolina fished 4 full days offshore out of Flamingo. The team raised 14 sailfish, got 10 bites and successfully hooked on their own and released 5 Pacific sailfish. They also raised 5 marlin, got 3....
