The Latest Reports:

November 1, 2, 3 & 4, 2016: Bob Newell, Larry Spainhour, Brent Elliott and Scott Hamilton from North Carolina fished 4 full days offshore out of Flamingo. The team raised 14 sailfish, got 10 bites and successfully hooked on their own and released 5 Pacific sailfish. They also raised 5 marlin, got 3 bites and released 1 blue marlin. They had two days of fantastic yellowfin tuna action, Brent Elliott boating the largest tuna caught on the Gamefisher II this year, measured and calculated out to weigh in at 135 lbs.
   

   

October 23, 2017: Scott Dunlap and Heather fished a full day offshore. They released 2 for 3 sailfish, 1 striped marlin and Heather got her wish and pulled in a huge dorado!! Well done!

October 22, 2017: Dave Harmon, Dennis Templeton and friend Jim fished together on the Gamefisher II out of Flamingo with calm seas and broken cloud cover, showers and rainbows. Dave reports that he did no napping, did not want to close his eyes because the day was too beautiful. The released 2 sailfish and got into a nice yellowfin tuna bite, boating a few for the dinner table.

October 21, 2017: Margaret Harmon, young Dave and friends released 2 striped marlin for 2 bites, 1 sailfish out of 4 raised and also boated a nice bull dorado for the table.

October 20, 2017: Stormy day at sea but they toughed it out to the end, Dave and Margaret Harmon with good friends Pat and Meredith. They successfully released 4 Pacific sailfish for 6 raised. Nice work. You are a hearty bunch!

August 21, 2016: Jack Waters and 2 boys (10 years old!) fished a full day off of Flamingo. They saw 8 sailfish, releasing 5. They also caught a 300 lb blue marlin and a 25 lb dorado.

August 16, 17, 19, 20, 2016: Robert Schupler and family from Lloyd Harbor, New York, fishing 4 days off of Flamingo doing a combination of fly fishing and conventional reported to have enjoyed the full experience, "Great trip - the crew is amazing - the best we have ever fished with. Sure you have heard it before but they are all so awesome! "

On the 16th the action was slow. The one sailfish raised spit the fly out. They had a 600 lb black marlin pile on the fly with only a 20 lb tippet so broke him off - but what a bite it was!! This day father and son took a break to swim with the dolphins.
The 17th the action was TUNA!
On this day Robert was joined by son and daughter. They got into some nice sized yellowfin and caught 3 - 80#, 60# and 30#. They also caught one sailfish.
 

The family took a break on the 18th.

On the 19th the Schupler family got 10 sailfish bites, releasing 7.

August 20th the Schupler men released two sailfish on the fly rods and Robert also released a blue marlin on the fly rod! Well done!!

August 18, 2016: Schupler family rest day, Gamefisher II took representatives from FECOP inshore for a saltwater fishing experience from Flamingo. The group had a lot of fun and caught many species of fish which FECOP's marine biologist Moises Mug was happy to properly identify for everyone. They caught some good eating snapper which they carried home for the family.

August 14, 2016: GRAND SLAM out of Flamingo with Bill Robertson and Paul Enlander out of Sarasota, Florida. They released 6 sailfish, 1 blue marlin estimated to weigh 350 lbs and one black marlin estimated to weigh 400 lbs. They lost another good sized blue marlin after a 40 minute fight.

August 12, 2016: Bill Robertson and friends Lori and Paul Enlander fished of of Flamingo. Lori released 2 sailfish, Paul 1 sail and a dorado. Bill caught his sailfish on the fly rod.

August 11, 2016: Bill and Linda Robertson had a good day offshore. Bill released a nice 400 lb blue marlin. Linda released a sailfish. Then the couple caught 3 nice yellowfin tuna ranging from 20-40 lbs.

July 30 & 31, 2016: Flamingo Fishing Rodeo, presented by Presidential Challenge Charitable Foundation Inc, took place this weekend with 10 boats entered. Dennis Templeton brought two teams from Hub International fishing on Permit III and Gamefisher II. The two teams placed 1st and 2nd with a total of 31 sailfish releases and 2 blue marlin releases. Way to go Hub International!!!

July 2-3, 2016: Dennis Templeton and guests fished a half day inshore July 2nd catching 10 bonito. No one else was hungry. Offshore on July 3rd the boat raised 6 sailfish, had 4 bites, anglers releasing 2 sails. They also caught 3 yellowfin tuna for the table.

July 1, 2016: Charlie Collier and guests fished a half day inshore catching 10 bonito, 2 Jacks and 1 roosterfish about 30 lbs.

June 26-29, 2016: Doug Peter chartered the boat for one half day inshore and one full day offshore but he was so impressed by the boat and the crew in spite of a somewhat slow bite he took another two days offshore. On July 27 the first day offshore the boat raised 2 sailfish and 1 big ole blue marlin. The anglers released 1 sailfish and 1 blue marlin estimated to be 400 lbs. On their second day out they released one striped marlin for one raised. The third day offshore the boat raised 6 sailfish, and 1 striped marlin. Anglers releasing 4 sails and 1 striped marlin.

June 7 - 12, 2016: This was a week for inshore action and marlin. Everyone ate well this week with a steady catch of cubera snapper ranging from 35lb to 50lbs! There were also plenty of grouper caught, around 7 dorado (mahi), 5 of which were caught on the fly rod by the Barnes men from Bakersfield, California. They also hooked a sailfish on the fly rod, fighting it for about 20 minutes before it broke off. We had a nice 50lb roosterfish release this week by the Atkinson group out of Atlanta, Georgia. The sailfish bite was weak but what action we had was close to shore. The Jack Stoltz group went offshore and struck out on the sailfish, raising just 2 but captured and released two nice blue marlin estimated to be 250 and 300lbs.

   

June 1, 2, 3, 2016: Dave and Margaret Harmon from Mt Pleasant, Texas brought friends from home Michelle and Johnny to experience Costa Rica and fish with the Gamefisher II for a few days. The offshore bite was slow but the inshore was happening so the group elected to spend more time inshore and had success with roosterfish, releasing 3 of them two 40 lb and one 30 lb. They caught some nice cubera snapper and grouper and released several large jacks. Offshore they did release one striped marlin and 3 sailfish.

 

May 31, 2016: Fishing two half day inshore charters the Gamefisher II had good action with the Harmon's in the morning, releasing 1 roosterfish and 3 large jacks, catching 1 snapper for the table. The Wilson family fishing the afternoon released 1 roosterfish 30lb and 2 large jacks, catching a nice 30lb cubera snapper.

May 30, 2016: Dennis Templeton had a nice day on the water, solo angler, released 4 Pacific sailfish, had a blue marlin jump off and released a striped marlin. Fishing inshore on the way out he caught and released a nice roosterfish, 2 jack crevalle and caught and kept 1 snapper for the table.

May 27, 2016: Molly and Evan Gay chartered the boat for a full day of inshore fun on the Gamefisher II with two sons William and Mitchell. The kids got warmed up catching 20 bonito. The team proceeded to catch 2 Jack Crevalle about 20lbs. (releasing one), releasing 1 needlefish, catching 2 cubera snapper 30 & 35 lbs., 1 Pompano 10lbs and releasing 1 rainbow fish. The family spent a portion of the day snorkeling from the boat where they were able to see many fish and some sea stars.

May 24 & 26, 2016: Mike Johnson and friends fished 2 full days, combining offshore with a few hours inshore each day. One their first day they released 3 for 5 on the sailfish and caught some grouper for the table. One the second day they released 2 for 2 sailfish bites and then got back inshore with some good catches, scoring 2 nice snapper 20 & 30 lbs and also catching and releasing a roosterfish at 30 lbs.

May 23 & 25, 2016: Karen Rodman and friends fished two full days, again combining inshore with offshore. They raised 5 and released 5 sailfish on day one and caught a few grouper to take home. One day two they released 5 sailfish for 5 raised and caught 2 nice snapper, 25 lb and 30 lb.

May 6, 2016: Bob Walsh out of Fort Myers, Florida a longtime friend and fishing client coordinated a day of fishing for a friends wedding party of (130 guests! No small time affair) who all stayed in Tamarindo where the main event took place. 27 came to fish on 6 boats that they had chartered out of Flamingo. The group released 12 sailfish and 3 marlin. Father of the bride also released a 350# black marlin. Good fortune smiling on the occasion. They also caught 3 mahi mahi and a snapper which was prepared beautifully by a private chef for the families. Congratulations to AJ and his beautiful bride!

May 4, 2016: Chris Atkins and Lauren Hinrichs fished a full day out of Flamingo on a nice overcast day. The boat raised 19 sailfish, they got 18 bites releasing 15 sails! Great couple of anglers on their second charter with Gamefisher II. We look forward to their return again soon.

April 27 and 29, 2016: James Rodek fishing two days off of Flamingo spent a day and a half inshore seeking rooster and other gamefish. They did slip offshore for part of the day and caught 3 sailfish for 3 bites. Inshore they released 3 roosterfish, 5 Urel, caught 3 snapper, one 40# beauty!

April 28, 2016: Captain Arlan Smith chartered Gamefisher II and 2 more boats so his wedding party could do a little offshore fishing prior the the festivities. They released 7 for 8 sailfish on the Gamefisher II and also caught 3 dorado.

April 26, 2016: Tom Ghegan chartered the Gamefisher II for 8 of his friends; half fished the morning inshore and the other half fished the afternoon. In all they released 2 roosterfish, 50# and 30#, caught 2 snapper 40# and 10#, 1 rainbow runner and 3 Urel.

April 18, 19, 20 & 21, 2016: Gamefisher II participated in the Offshore World Champion Tournament out of the Marina Pez Vela in Quepos. Over the four day period the Gamefisher II averaged 14 bites and 8 sailfish releases per day, finishing 15th out of 66 boats. Teams rotate each day, mates not permitted to touch the rods. The team from St. Lucia took 1st place this year and had an excellent time fishing with Gamefisher II day 2. Total fish released in Tournament this year: 1509. Well run, fun Tournament at an excellent venue.

April 4 through 9, 2016: The Gamefisher II was chartered by a fishing club out of Germany for 6 days, fishing from the Marina Pez Vela in Quepos. In these 6 days they had 98 sailfish bites, releasing 55. They got 2 blue marlin bites, releasing 1 but fighting another estimated to weigh 500 lbs for over 2 hours on 30# test before he broke off. The group also caught 2 dorado and 3 yellowfin tuna during this 6 day charter.

March 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 2016: Fishing offshore out of the Marina Pez Vela, Quepos with Tom Daniels, Dick Berner and Mike Sherrer. RELEASED 121 SAILFISH IN 5 DAYS, raising a total of 183 sailfish with 167 bites! Their goal for this year was 51 sailfish and they more than doubled that.

March 12, 13, 14, 2016: The La Grange group out of Atlanta fishing the 14th consecutive year with Gamefisher II, this year out of Marina Pez Vela Quepos, raised 85 Pacific sailfish, had 76 bites, releasing a total of 63 sailfish in three days. They also caught 7 yellowfin tuna in the 15-25 lb range. The group reported that they really enjoyed staying in Manuel Antonio and the new Marina facility. We will look forward to having them back in Quepos with us again next year!

March 4, 5, 6, 2016: Three day, Club Amateur de Pesca Tournament, Gamefisher II releases 49 sailfish, 53 sails raised and one blue marlin with team from Puerto Rico!!

February 12, 13, 14, 2016: Fishing 3 Full Days Offshore out of Herradura (Los Suenos) the Gamefisher II with Trey Brunson party raised 41 sailfish, had 38 bites, releasing a total of 27 nice sized Pacific sailfish.

February 7 & 9, 2016: Fishing 2 Full Days Offshore out of Herradura, the Gamefisher II with Kevin Kennelly party raised 14 sailfish, had 10 bites, releasing 9 Pacific sailfish. The group also caught and released blue marlin.

February 8, 2016: Fishing 1 Full Day Offshore out of Herradura with Doug and Sassy Mauldin from Mississippi the Gamefisher II raised 6 sailfish, Doug and Sassy got 5 bites, releasing 5 Pacific Sailfish.

January 27-30, 2016: Michaels Hunting and Fishing out of Atlanta, GA brought down the Ashrae party. They fished 4 days out of Herradura using the fly rod one day and spinning tackle on other days, releasing a total of 30 sailfish and catching 6 nice yellowfin tuna. They were very pleased and we look forward to having them back again next year!

January 20-25, 2016: Underwater cinematographer and marine biologist, Rick Rosenthal, was with us for 5 days, exploring and gathering footage for a new BBC documentary in the works. We have worked with Rick over the years on various documentaries, including the Blue Planet series. Always fascinating and educational. Rick was very impressed on this trip with the healthy stocks of pelagic, meso pelagic and mammal species here in Costa Rica. He reported that he has not seen the yellowfin tuna stocks so strong here since 1995. This, thanks to FECOPE's effort to change legislation to keeping the seiners 45 miles offshore (previously the limit was 12 miles).

January 8, 2016: Fishing out of Flamingo Lester Louzon set out to marlin fish but it turned out to be a sailfish day instead. The boat raised 15 sails and Lester, fishing on his own, had 11 bites, releasing 8. No marlin sighted but Les enjoyed all the action none the less.

January 5, 6, 7, 2016: Fishing out of Flamingo Lisa Browne out of Boston, Massachusetts planned this 50th birthday trip for her husband David. They were joined by good friends John and Donna. In three days the boat raised 27 sailfish, releasing 17. Good times! Happy Birthday David!!!

November 14, 2015: Rob Buijsman and friend fished a full day offshore, raising 5 sailfish, releasing 2. Rob had a big blue marlin bite (estimated to be over 500 lbs by Captain Junior) and a striped marlin bite but unfortunately missed both of these. They did boat 3 yellow-fin tuna as well.

November 13, 2015: Dennis Templeton, Eric Wilson and friends Released 9 sailfish and boated 3 nice sized yellowfin tuna. Beautiful day offshore!

November 11, 2015: 5 sailfish and 10 yellow-fin tuna caught on Gamefisher II off Flamingo with the Patterson Real Estate group out of Atlanta. They were 11 anglers on 3 boats and caught a total of 45 fish!

November 1, 2015: Owners, Melissa and Richard Chellemi took guests Kevin Moreno with Flamingo Beach Vacation Rentals and Mark Hader with Gold Coast Sky Cam (drone videos) offshore out of Flamingo. On a fantastic day of fishing we raised 30 sailfish, had 28 bites, releasing 20 good sized fish 70-80 lbs that jumped all over the ocean giving us some great video footage. Look for dazzling short action packed video on this site as soon as edits are complete!

October 25-28 & 31, 2015: Dave and Margaret Harmon out of Texas brought good friends Brian and Carla on board for 3 full days offshore and 2 half days inshore. In 3 days offshore they raised 55 sailfish, releasing 46, caught 3 nice sized dorado and 4 yellow fin tuna 40-60 lb range. In 2 days of inshore fishing they caught a total of 4 rooster fish. And if they didn't have to get back to Texas they would have kept on fishing. True lovers of the Sport! Always a pleasure to have on board!!

 

October 30, 2015: Doug Wittrock and Chad Sigler joined us offshore out of Flamingo. They had 21 bites, releasing 19 sailfish by 2:00 p.m. and were begging for mercy. We had to pick up and run from the bite to give them a break! Might note it was their first time billfishing. Crash course!

October 13, 2015: Pete Peterson out of Atlanta treated his employees to a day of fishing. The party had a blast. They released 2 Pacific sailfish and got into some nice sized yellow fin tuna catching 2 40 pounders and 2 50 pounders. That's a lot of tuna!

September 28, 29, 30 & October 1, 2, 2015: Out of Flamingo: Day 4 Offshore Trip Tally with Alex Davis and son Alex from Pensacola, Florida: released 19 Pacific sailfish for 29 raised and were 2 for 2 on the marlin! Young Alex released 1 feisty striped marlin after a 1.5 hour fight. Alex Senior hooked both marlin and released a blue himself. The team fished a half day inshore on the 30th, releasing a roosterfish and 1 jack crevalle. Pretty work!

August 22, 2015: Floyd party fishing inshore caught 2 snapper (35 and 40 lbs), 1 roosterfish (50 lbs!!), 15 bonito, 2 rainbow fish, 2 jack Carville (20 and 10 lbs).

August 21, 2015: Chellemi Family Day offshore out of Flamingo with Richard, Kiara, Melissa Chellemi and guest Matt Douglas. They raised 7 sailfish, anglers hooked 4 and Kiara successfully released 2 Pacific sailfish. They also had a marlin pile on a bait but spit it out. The day ended with a triple dorado hook up, keeping 2 (35 and 25 lbs).

August 17, 18, 20, 2015: Goldsmith Family out of Aspen Colorado fished 3 days offshore out of Flamingo.

Day One: Raised 8 sailfish, had 7 bites, released 4. One marlin bite, no release.

Day Two: Released 1 sailfish for 1 bite. Also released a 30# striped marlin on the fly rod.

Day Three: Two roosterfish released inshore (25 and 30 lb). Then offshore the boat raised 2 sailfish, got one bite and one release on the fly rod. Raised a marlin but did not get the bite.

August 14, 2015: Chris Floyd and family fishing a full day offshore out of Flamingo got 6 sailfish bites, successfully releasing 3 sailfish and 1 blue marlin estimated to be 200 lbs.

August 9 & 11, 2015:

Day One: The Spike Lord party had some slow fishing getting just 2 sailfish bites, one hook up but no release.
Day Two: Spike and company decided to give it one more day. The fishing was still tough, the boat raised 3 sailfish and they got 2 bites, releasing one. They also got into some small tuna and caught 8.

August 9, 2015: John Cogger and friend Dave fished half day offshore and half day inshore. They released 3 sailfish offshore and released 3 roosterfish inshore.

August 3 & 6: Peter Kilcullen and 10 year old son Harry started out to fish a full day offshore. The weather was rough but they managed to raise 8 sailfish by noon and successfully released 5. They retired early and were in by 1:30 p.m. mostly due to rough seas.

August 2, 2015: Chris DiCarlo party had a great time fishing a full day offshore out of Flamingo. They raised 15 sailfish, had 13 bites and released 9.
